Q&A

Q: What topics do you cover in your articles?

A: My articles cover everything from how public adjusting and the insurance industry work to fire, water, and storm damage claims. I also write about relevant news topics, changes in the industry, and imperative tips policyholders should know.

Q: How do you decide which topics to write about?

A: I decide on topics by looking at insurance industry trends, frequently asked questions by policyholders, and current events. As a licensed public adjuster, my real-world experience also shapes my writing.

Q: What sets your coverage apart from other authors writing about insurance claims?

A: Having a background in public adjusting, I have on-site experience that I bring to my coverage. I have experience handling thousands of claims and know the key information homeowners and business owners need to know.

Q: How does your professional experience shape your perspective as a writer?

A: My writing is informed by my professional experience. As a public adjuster, I don’t just stay up-to-date with the insurance industry. I’m actively helping policyholders navigate complex insurance claims on a daily basis. Because of this perspective, I have a better understanding of what insights policyholders need to know, and I share that information in my writing.

Q: What first drew you to the public adjusting profession?

A: I was drawn to public adjusting after witnessing how insurance companies often use tactics like delay, deny, and defend to underpay policyholders during their most vulnerable moments. With my background in the insurance industry, I wanted to switch sides and become a fierce advocate for homeowners and business owners in Texas. Co-founding ClaimsMate Adjusters allowed me to level the playing field, helping thousands of Texans maximize their property insurance claims and secure the fair settlements they deserve.

Q: Which types of claims do you consider your specialty?
A: I can confidently assist homeowners with a wide range of insurance claims, but my areas of expertise include commercial property insurance, fire damage, water damage, structural damage, and total loss claims.

Q: Are there common misconceptions about the insurance industry you aim to clarify with your writing?

A: I aim to help people understand the role of public adjusters and why they should consider hiring one to help with their insurance claim. Public adjusters are licensed insurance professionals who fight for policyholders, not insurance companies. If you want a qualified insurance expert on your side during a claim, a public adjuster can help make the process easier and fight for better compensation.

Q: What was the most challenging claim you’ve worked on, and what did you learn from it?

A: One of the most challenging claims I’ve handled involved a large commercial property in Texas devastated by a major hurricane, where the insurance company initially denied significant portions of the claim by citing policy exclusions and pre-existing damage. Anyone who has worked with Texas Windstorm Association (TWIA) knows how difficult they can be. This claim happened to have flood damage as well, so we had to constantly communicate with the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and coordinate damages and coverages with both government-run entities. Through thorough documentation, expert inspections, and persistent negotiation as a Texas public adjuster, the ClaimsMate team overturned the denials and secured a settlement that was several times the original offer, covering business interruption losses and full reconstruction. This experience reinforced the importance of detailed evidence gathering and policy expertise—it taught me that even the most complex or denied claims can result in fair outcomes when policyholders have dedicated advocacy on their side.

Q: Why is it important for policyholders to understand insurance claims?

A: It’s important for homeowners and business owners to understand their policies in order to get the compensation they deserve. I aim to help policyholders avoid settling for less than their insurance contracts entitle them to by educating them about the claims process and how a public adjuster can help.

Q: What do you hope readers take away from your articles?

A: I hope readers learn that they don’t have to do it alone. If you’re struggling with a tricky insurance claim, you don’t have to settle for less. ClaimsMate’s licensed public adjusters are here to help policyholders navigate claims and receive a better payout. We’ll handle gathering evidence, reviewing contracts, and negotiating settlements so that you can resolve your claim with less stress.
